An operating system for martial arts academies, in beta with real dojos

Kihon is State Zero's own product for academy operations. The application is production-ready on AWS and in beta with a small number of dojos.

This work is in progress. What you see here is current, not a finished launch story.

The problem

A good instructor does not wake up to chase failed payments, follow up trials, reconcile attendance and check who is allowed on the mats. Most academy software asks them to do exactly that, across a few disconnected tools.

The approach

Kihon is built as one operational layer for a martial arts academy: memberships, attendance, payments and the staff work that sits around the class. State Zero designed and is shipping the product. The public site at kihon.au is the front door. The application behind it is already running on AWS.

What we built

  • A production application for academy operations, deployed on AWS
  • A marketing site that describes what is available now, and what is still on the roadmap
  • Beta use with a small handful of real dojos, so the next work comes from actual class-week friction

Outcome

Kihon is in beta. It is a State Zero product, not a client brochure. We include it here because it is the clearest public example of the digital-product work we take on, and because it is already in the hands of operators.
