A site that had to earn trust in a difficult moment

A trauma-informed mental health practice supporting veterans, first responders and the wider community needed a site that communicated trust and accessibility.

The problem

Mindful Mates supports veterans, first responders and the wider community through trauma-informed care, funded through several different pathways — DVA, NDIS and WorkCover among them. Someone arriving at the site is often doing so in a difficult moment. The content had to be sensitive and immediately clear, and finding the right funding pathway or a way to reach out couldn’t be left to guesswork.

The approach

We treated calm and clarity as the two things that mattered most. Every design decision was weighed against whether it made the site feel more approachable or less — nothing was added that didn’t directly help someone understand their options or find a way to get support.

What we built

  • An accessible, calm design intended to build trust from the first few seconds
  • Clear service descriptions organised across multiple funding pathways (DVA, NDIS, WorkCover)
  • Prominent crisis resources and booking integration, kept easy to find rather than buried in a menu
  • Content and structure oriented around the searches someone in crisis or seeking veteran support is likely to make

Outcome

A site that feels approachable and credible from the first visit. Visitors can understand the services on offer, find their funding pathway, and book an appointment or reach crisis support without friction.
