A school portal, a staff intranet, and the tools behind the roster
VIRB needed a school-facing portal, a staff intranet, a knowledge bot grounded in their own facilitation material, and a compliance command centre that shows what is not done before someone starts a shift. The public-facing pieces are in preview. The operational tools are in beta.
The problem
VIRB (Virtues Improving Relational Behaviours) runs school and community programs. Schools need a place to request services, see the week, and reach their officer. Staff need an intranet that is not a shared drive. Field workers finish a session with a question and nobody wise is awake. Onboarding and credentials still live across spreadsheets and forms.
The approach
The work is a set of surfaces, not one app.
The school portal is for the people on a campus: this week, service requests, reports, documents and messages. The staff intranet, The Hive, is the internal home: newsletter, calendar, directory, branch hubs, policies and training. Both are in preview.
Behind those sit two operational products in beta. The knowledge bot answers from VIRB’s own facilitation material and nothing else. A safety check runs first. The compliance platform is an exception dashboard: what has not been done, which credentials are expiring, and a start-ready gate so a shift cannot be paid until the documents are in.

- The Hive, a staff intranet preview: newsletter, calendar, directory, branch hubs, policies and training
- A retrieval-grounded knowledge bot for field staff, with a safety escalation path and a refusal to invent
- A compliance command centre: staff register, credential expiry, onboarding intake and start-ready gates
- Australian data residency for the compliance app
Outcome
The portal and intranet are up as preview builds. The knowledge bot and compliance platform are in beta with real operational material behind them. The next work comes from how schools and staff actually use the previews, and from what the register still cannot see.
